million's good

back in hyd after a trip to kochi - the pearl/queen (a bit confused on that front and not in the mood to google) of the arabian sea. and it was a pretty eventful trip too. saw a couple of good movies. "udayanaanu thaaram" and "million dollar baby" - the former is probably the only malayalam movie in the past 5 years which has been able to make people laugh without resorting to cheap bathroom humour and the latter is, for want of a better word, a classic. i remember daku saying something about it having a potential for becoming a classic but i guess with all those oscars, it already is. i feel sorry for martin scorsese and was pretty surprised but then eastwood had done a pretty good job, way out of the league of his last one i remember - space cowboys. the chap's like wine :-). i guess there isn't any point in talking of the movie though, as half the world ought to have seen it by now.

and home surprisingly was a lot more hot and humid than ever before. so i request all and sundry to refrain from using cfc! and the trip back was pretty good. the indian railways, it seems, is striving hard to cater to the needs of people for beautiful-eyed girls in long-distance trains - first my friend and now me ;-)

marathon meet

/me's been working :-(

and as if that wasn't bad enough, today we had a marathon meeting that lasted from 8:30 in the morn to 12:15 with a break of course. still... it's surprising how much bullshit can be stuffed into the very few things that actually need to be conveyed. everytime i feel that this has reached the saturation point, the guys here pull up their sleeves, spit on their hands and come up with a performance compared to which the earlier ones were 20-sec ads. after the meeting i was in a sort of daze till i dragged myself to the lunch table. the mid-day refueling is indeed a miraculous healer and i started feeling more kind towards those around me. in fact /me has been in good spirits all afternoon. though one problem did surface over which me and figo had a heated discussion though the thing, i must confess laid us both stymie. in the he-man series, what posture does he-man take when he says "i have the power" immediately after the "by the power of grey skull" thingummy holding his sword up like the statue of liberty. does he hold the sword in both hands or does he point it at the beast?
