rout

recovering from cricket injuries, especially to the ego after we got licked proper in our first match of the tournament. it is strange how myself being neither a good batsman or bowler, having retained my slot in the team through a concatenation of circs, should feel so strongly about being licked by a team who can only be described as "formidable"... the reason i probably feel this way is because we didn't play badly. in fact if one were of a generous disposition one would be inclined to say that our efforts were pretty good. yet the fact remains that at the end of the day, we were the ones who had to swallow the bitter pill of defeat and keep our cool as those condescending buggers came over to say "good show" with a smirk :-(

now don't get into the assumption that this is the lament of a poor soul who for some uncertain reason lost his duel with another guy. this is the frustrated groan of a raiding infantry who having burnt the bridge behind them triumphantly, turns around to find heavy artillery. we had done a good job in the first innings and were pretty pleased with ourselves when we took to the pitch and maintained a good run rate in the initial few overs. and thats when they brought out the panzers and t-72s. after that all that was left for us to do was to turn over and give up the ghost. i patriotically took 3 blows from their pacer on the thighs and am pretty sore today, a constant reminder of the valiant reversal. looking forward to kicking some ass this weekend :-)

  • there are some things some people are meant to do.. and some things some people arent meant to do.. or rather some things are jus not meant for them. Leave the sports to the physically fit and able people and not to 100 tons of gloating fat that u carry around in your tummy!
